PNG Staff Pay and Conditions
We take the welfare and support of all of our staff and their families very seriously.
On-boarding Benefits
Our PNG Carriers, Porters and Key Staff each receive the following when they are on-boarded with Australian Battlefield Treks and Tours:
- Company uniform consisting of a Company Trek Shirt, Shorts and a Cap or Bucket Hat
(2 x full uniforms each trek season) - Wet weather poncho
- A Sleeping Mat (replaced at the start of each trek season)
- A Sleeping Bag (replaced at the start of each trek season)
- A Kinchrome 15 in 1 Stainless Steel Multitool (Knife Blade, Saw Blade, Pliers etc.)
- A rechargeable Head-Torch
Note
- This minimises the carrying of spare batteries and reduces the amount of toxic waste (used batteries) being left behind in PNG.
- Small, lightweight Solar Panels are also carried in each trek group to enable torches etc. to be re-charged during the day.
Salary and Allowances
Our Carriers and Porters receive the following in Pay and Allowances:
Note: All monetary figures are in PNG Kina (K)
- Carriers and Porters – K100 per day.
- The Front Man, Assistant Cook, Trek Medic, Boss Cook and the PNG Head Guide are all remunerated at higher levels based on their roles, experience, training and qualifications.
- Fly Home Allowance – All PNG based staff are provided with either a flight home or are paid a Fly-Home allowance of K300, most opt for the paid flight home.
