PNG Staff Pay and Conditions
We take the welfare and support of all of our staff and their families very seriously.
On-boarding Benefits
Our PNG Carriers, Porters and Key Staff each receive the following when they are on-boarded with Australian Battlefield Treks and Tours:
- Company uniform Company Trek Shirt, Shorts and a Cap or Bucket Hat. 2 x full uniforms each trek season
- Wet weather poncho
- Sleeping Mat Replaced at the start of each trek season.
- Sleeping Bag Replaced at the start of each trek season.
- Kinchrome 15 in 1 Stainless Steel Multitool Includes knife blade, saw blade, pliers and other useful tools.
- Rechargeable Head-Torch
Environmental Note
- This minimises the carrying of spare batteries and reduces the amount of toxic waste from used batteries being left behind in PNG.
- Small, lightweight solar panels are also carried in each trek group to enable torches and other equipment to be re-charged during the day.
Salary and Allowances
Our Carriers and Porters receive the following in pay and allowances:
All monetary figures are in PNG Kina (K).
- Carriers and Porters K100 per day.
- Front Man, Assistant Cook, Trek Medic, Boss Cook and PNG Head Guide These roles are remunerated at higher levels based on role, experience, training and qualifications.
- Fly Home Allowance All PNG based staff are provided with either a flight home or are paid a Fly-Home allowance of K300. Most opt for the paid flight home.
